It is estimated that in March-April 2015, the amount of travel per passenger per day in Britain rose 1.8 percent over the same period. In many areas, single car journeys are often cheaper than cross-country trips, due to the difference in cost of a single train and the expense of passengers. These differences, while substantial, are less noticeable than in other parts of the world.

The rise in cost per person is reflected in the cost of motorised and unlicensed transport. In Britain alone, the average passenger cost of a single transport vehicle is around £3.70 each day - a £18.16 annual gain compared to an average of £9.35 a day for vehicle hire. The increase in motorised transport in Britain is due in large part to the influx of people from mainland Europe.
