The American citizens said when the attack occurred they were greeted with threats and that they were likely harassed and beaten during their tour of duty.

The attackers also said they were targeted because of the uniform their spouses wore. The women said they were told that the uniform was used to "cunt" women's clothing and that women were not allowed to wear a tie or the vest of their male spouses.
